Starting in Russia in November 2019, Russian Sails 2020 will see events taking place across 26 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, South America, Oceana and North America including Israel, Brunei, Japan, South Africa, Mauritius, Turkey, the Canary Islands, Greece, France, Portugal, Tunisia, Argentina, Poland, Brazil, Uruguay, Samoa, French Polynesia, Chile, Morocco, Singapore, China, India, Vietnam, Cuba and Panama, before coming to a close in Russia in December 2020.

This global expedition by Rosrybolovstvo's sailing vessels is being held in recognition of two key moments in Russian history. The 200th anniversary of Antarctic discovery by Russian seafarers and the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The three participating vessels (Sedov, Kruzenshtern and Pallada) will circumnavigate the globe along three individual routes, carrying the message of peace around the world and celebrating the history of Russian geographical discovery whilst training the next generation of seafaring cadets.
