Sail North From Bilbao, Right to the Heart of Semaine du Golfe 2019

Join the tall ship ATYLA in Bilbao on May 22nd 2019 for an unforgettable 5 day adventure that will see you travel from Spain to France. We highly recommend you get hands on with setting the sails, steering the ship, keeping watch and more though it will be possible to join as a passenger for this voyage if you simply wish to relax onboard. No experience is required to be able to join either and the permanent crew will be on hand to make sure you know all the information you need to in good time.

This will be ATYLAs first international voyage of the season and her first of many major event visits in 2019. You'll be sailing ATYLA northward across the Bay of Biscay and with the French sailing festival Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan firmly in your sights. This beautifully unique festival sees a well curated gathering of more than 1200 ships of all shapes and sizes come together from all around the world.

Following your boarding in Bilbao you’ll be introduced to your shipmates and then we’ll all have lunch. After that you’ll be talked through the details of life on board, the basics of marine safety and we'll introduce you to our personal development programme.

On that same evening we’ll make our way down the river with the high tide before setting course to the north for what will be a three to four day crossing of the Bay of Biscay. If the wind is good and we sail fast, we’ll choose an island near the french coast where we can anchor and either go for a swim or visit the island.

We’ll then enter the Morbihan Gulf on the morning of the 26th, giving you one entire evening to explore the area and have a last dinner together with your crew before disembarkation the day after.

If you want, you can stay on Atyla for the duration of the festival, giving you more time to enjoy the event and the region itself. As a participant/passenger on this trip, you may have a discounted price.

The voyage price includes 3 meals a day and your own private bunk; certificated participation in Atyla’s Personal Development Programme; insurance for your time on board (see terms and conditions); an official Atyla T-shirt; and, in case the ship does not not moor in Vannes, transport to Vannes after disembarkation.
