Join the tall ship ATYLA in Muros on May 11th 2019 for an unforgettable 5 day adventure that both begins and ends in Spain. We highly recommend you get hands on with setting the sails, steering the ship, keeping watch and more though it will be possible to join as a passenger for this voyage if you simply wish to relax onboard. No experience is required to be able to join either and the permanent crew will be on hand to make sure you know all the information you need to in good time.
This will be the last bilingual trip for ATYLA in 2019. After all the participants have arrived, the crew will explain everything you need to be safe and enjoy the trip, and then we'll set sail.
We will sail along the beautiful Estuary of Muros and then along the coast of the Galician "Rias Baixas" for one day. Afterwards, we'll go out at sea for some proper sailing along the north coast of Spain, all the way back to our home Bilbao.
During the trip our coach will use what happens onboard to help you reflect and improve on some basic skills, adapted to your needs and your moment in life.
This trip will include a really cool stopover: we'll drop the anchor at Ría de Viveiro and take on a hiking tour from Abrela beach to the impressive Punta de Fuciño do Porco and, weather allowing, we'll end the day with a barbeque on the beach.
Once in Bilbao, the whole team on board will celebrate the arrival with a nice dinner at a local restaurant with traditional food. For those who are not from Bilbao, the day after arrival we'll organise a guided tour around the city.
This is a very special trip because on the 15th of May 2019 (your disembarkation day) is the 35th anniversary of Atyla's launching!
The voyage will be both in English and Spanish languages in order to keep the diversity on board with people from different countries, but people that speak very little English can also join us. The team on board will help keep the communication fluid between everyone, and we’ll work on tools to communicate in multicultural environments.
The voyage price includes: 3 meals a day and your own private bunk; pick up service from Santiago de Compostela to the ship (Including a stop in the airport, please let us know if you'll require this service); the restaurant dinner in Bilbao; certificated participation in Atyla’s Personal Development Programme; insurance for your time on board (see terms and conditions); and an official Atyla T-shirt.
Your journey aboard this beautiful 2 Masted Staysail Schooner will end in Bilbao where you'll disembark on May 16th.
