Travel Insurance Is required. Once you have booked and paid for your voyage please ensure that you have appropriate travel insurance.

Maybe Sailing Vessels are covered by third party liability insurance for serious injury or loss of life, but they strongly advise you to take out travel insurance as soon as you book your holiday. Make sure you find travel insurance that gives you financial protection if you must cancel or curtail your holiday, cover loss or damage to baggage, or incur any additional medical or transport costs. If you have your own annual travel insurance or a cover with your credit or debit card, please check your own policy carefully to make sure it covers sailing/ cruising/ yachting for sailing more than 12 miles from shore.

Topsail Insurance offer policies that are tailor-made for tall ship holidays, whether pilot cutter, ketch, lugger or tall ship, and have no restrictions as to how far offshore you can sail, including Antarctica.

What will I be doing during my watch?

When on watch, it is the responsibility of the watch leader and their team to handle the safe navigation of the ship, adjust sails and keep a lookout for any hazards. As a part of your watch you'll have a chance to learn all aspects of traditional sailing; having a chance to steer the ship, complete log book entries, plot the course on the chart, climb the rigging, and experience amazing starry skies during a night watch at sea!

What is the watch schedule onboard?

To enable the ship to operate safely and efficiently a three watch system (Red Watch, White Watch and Blue Watch) is run at all times. The following is an example watch rotation:

0000 – 0400 Red Watch
0400 – 0800 White Watch
0800 – 1200 Blue Watch
1200 – 1600 Red Watch
1600 – 1800 White Watch
1800 – 2000 Blue Watch
2000 – 0000 Red Watch

Why is my booking provisional?

Each passenger will be accepted or declined by the vendor based on their suitability for the Trip and the number of berths available. Once you have placed your order the vendor will contact you to request the required passenger information.
