You'll join the tall ship ATYLA in Vigo on April 28th, ready to begin an unforgettable 5 day Sail Training voyage that both begins and ends in Spain. We highly recommend you get hands on with setting the sails, steering the ship, keeping watch and more though it will be possible to join as a passenger for this voyage if you simply wish to relax onboard. No experience is required to be able to join either and the permanent crew will be on hand to make sure you know all the information you need to in good time.
Experience a journey to the greatest treasure of Galicia's natural habitat aboard ATYLA. Our Galician Experiences voyages combine our personal development programme with select experiences in the places that we visit such as guided tours, gastronomic experiences, activities in nature and more.
This trip will start with a day cruising along the Ría de Vigo, combined with a tasting of local cuisine by a specialised agency.
Afterwards, we'll set sail towards the Cies Islands. We'll spend a day and a night sailing and you'll be able to get a taste of what ATYLA's Personal Development Programme is like when we do longer trips. During this trip you'll also get to experience sailing during the night, a profound and beautiful experience that not many people get the chance to have.
The day after we'll anchor in front of one of the beaches of the Cies Islands. We'll have time for a swim, and then we'll bring everyone to the shore for a guided tour around one of the islands. The day will end with a BBQ on board.
The day after we'll anchor on the other island to swim on its beaches and explore it. Then we will watch the sunset from on board while enjoying a delicious paella.
Even though we are not sailing a lot on this trip, during the entire trip the coach on board will still propose challenges for all the participants, so that everyone has the chance to work on their life-skills.
After leaving from the Cies Islands, we'll have another day of sailing until reaching O Grove in the Ria de Arousa. In O Grove we'll have a bit more than a day to explore the area. We'll celebrate the success of the trip with a guided tour around the city. The day after, before disembarkation, we'll have a hiking tour around the area with anyone who's interested.
All these activities are included in the price of the trip.
You also have the chance of staying an extra night on the ship if you join the day cruise, plus a tasting activity that we'll do the day after (price to be announced).
The trip will be both in English and Spanish. This way we keep the diversity on board with people from different countries, but people that speak very little English can also join us. The team on board will help keep the communication fluid between everyone, and we’ll work on tools to communicate in multicultural environments.

The voyage price includes: 3 meals a day and your own private bunk; the sailing cruise and tasting of local specialties in Vigo; the guided tours on both of the Cies Islands; the guided tour in O grove; the hiking activity in the O grove area; certificate of participation in Atyla’s Personal Development Programme; insurance for your time on board (see terms and conditions); and an official Atyla T-shirt.
Your journey aboard this beautiful 2 Masted Staysail Schooner will end in O Grove where you'll disembark on May 3rd.
