Tall Ships Race Celebrations by James M Pilgrim
Achieved through the challenge of sailing a tall ship on the high seas, Sail Training is an experiential course in personal and professional development championed for its effectiveness by youth organisations, multi-national corporations and even navies from across the world.
Sail Training International (STI) is a registered charity that focuses on the development and education of young people (aged up to 26) through the challenge of Sail Training. They currently have 29 national Sail Training organisations as members. Every Year Sail Training International organises The Tall Ships Races, a European event that sees as many as 50 tall ships race between major festivals in up to 5 ports. They also organise at least one Tall Ships Regatta annually, a similar event on a slightly smaller scale. To help those aged 15-25 from any country of the world to take part in the annual tall ships races and regattas they offer the Sultanate of Oman Bursary Scheme.
The annual International Sail Training and Tall Ships Conference is also organised by STI, an event that brings together hundreds of delegates from across the international community for 3 days of discussions, seminars, workshops and more to help better future practice.
