Tall Ships Network has announced that Libertad will be taking part in Velas LatinoAmérica Cozumel 2018.
Libertad, a Sail Training tall ship operated by the Argentine Navy As a Sail Training school for the Argentine Navy and a goodwill ambassador for the nation, the tall ship ARA Libertad has now sailed over 1.5 million kilometres (800,000 NM) since her maiden voyage in 1961. An international fleet of tall ships takes over the city of Cozumel in Mexico for Velas LatinoAmérica Cozumel 2018. This event is a part of Velas LatinoAmérica 2018 which takes place between March 25, 2018 – September 2, 2018
Velas LatinAmerica 2018 will see a fleet of at least 12 Class A naval tall ships come together to sail over 12,000 nautical miles across 157 days, visiting 18 festivals in 12 South America countries. The regatta - which includes a rounding of Cape Horn - aims primarily to strengthen bonds between the Navies and nations participating.
